Together with the Veterans Association and the City of Plymouth, we are revitalizing Veterans Park in Plymouth. When finished, the park will include building pavilions, picnic areas, and restrooms as well as a monument to Amador County District 5 Veterans.
In partnership with the Farmers Market Association of Amador County, we host a weekly market that begins at 5 pm Thursdays in August and September at McGee park in Plymouth. Each week a different local winery, caterer and musician are featured. Vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, olive oils, and more, delight the market goers. Our Club has refreshed the gazebo and added tables to the park.
We provide dictionaries to all 3rd graders annually, work with our youth organizations to provide snack sacks to qualified students, and help the teachers as rquested in the classroom.
We partnered with several other groups in the area to build the Plymouth Community Gardens. All residents in the city now have assess to a garden spot and free water.
The Fiddletown Community Center was in much need of restoration. Our club repaired, restored and painted the outside of the building
Each year, Rotary District 5190 sponsors Music and Speech Competitions for high school students. Students win cash prizes and the best is eligible to compete at the Area level for scholarship money. In 2020, our club sponsored the Music competition.
In 2020, our club sponsored a "Walk to End Alzheimer's" in honor of our close friends (Lacy Patten) and families who have suffered through this disease. And what a successful event it was! We raised over $12,000 and even managed to have fun while be socially distanced.
